My PSLF Testimonial
Caroline, Senior Attorney, Children’s Program, Washington, D.C
“One of the biggest misconceptions about PSLF is that it is a handout. It is not.”
For me, PSLF made it possible to build a career representing some of the most vulnerable people – unaccompanied immigrant children navigating a legal system they don’t understand. After law school, I chose nonprofit and government work over higher-paying private sector options because I felt called to this work, but PSLF made that choice financially sustainable. Every day, I help children make sense of court proceedings that will shape their futures, and without programs like PSLF, far fewer attorneys could afford to do this kind of demanding, essential work. It’s not just about loan relief; it’s about ensuring that people facing complex systems don’t have to face them alone.
