Navigating the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program

In an attempt to alleviate the burden of student debt on U.S. borrowers, the federal government offers a Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, by which eligible individuals can have the balance of their loans forgiven if they meet certain requirements. Despite being in existence for over 10 years, the program has only approved about 1% of the applications it has received.

Congress should continue loan forgiveness for public-service employees

Like many of my classmates, I enrolled at University of Tennessee College of Law because I wanted to help others. In order to make this dream a reality, I sought out volunteer positions and internships with non-profit organizations that positively impact people’s lives and help them navigate our country’s legal system.

Ending public servant loan forgiveness hurts South Carolina communities

I am proud to serve families in Greenville and throughout South Carolina.  Connecting young children with the health, legal, and education services they need ignites my passion for this work every day. However, federal lawmakers are attempting to eliminate the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF) that has enabled me to pursue this public-service career.  Eliminating PSLF would not only hurt public servants relying on the program, it will hurt the people we serve.
